Ytra-Áland is by road no. 85
 
From Kópasker village: Leave Kópasker on road no. 85 in direction Þórshöfn.  Stay on road no. 85 for 95 km (passing by Melrakkaslétta flatland) when you have Ytra-Áland on your left.
 
From Þórshöfn village: Leave Þórshöfn on road no. 85 in direction Kópasker.  Stay on road no. 85 for 20 km and then you see Ytra-Áland on your right.
