Asphalt roads all the way to Hrauneyjar from Reykjavík. Scheduled buses stop in Hrauneyjar. Last service centre with fuel before crossing the highlands to the north.

How to find?             
Hrauneyjar is by road no. 26.
 
From Hella village:
Leave Hella heading to Selfoss on road no. 1.  After about 7 km you need to turn right into road no. 26. Stay on road no. 26 for about 75 km and you find Hrauneyjar on your right.
 
From Selfoss village: Leave Selfoss heading to Hella on road no. 1. After about 42 km you need to turn left into road no. 26. Stay on road no. 26 for about 75 km and you find Hrauneyjar on your right.
 
From Sprengisandur: When coming from Sprengisandur highland road then Hrauneyjar is on your left about 8 km after you come to the paved parts of the road (just after Hrauneyjar hydro electric
power plant).
