EarthCheck
EarthCheck is the worldwide benchmarking and certification program which facilitates sustainable travel and tourism for consumers, companies and communities. It is based on Agenda 21 and principles for Sustainable Development endorsed by 182 governments at the United Nations Rio de Janeiro Earth Summit in 1992.
As a EarthCheck certified organisation, Icelandic Farm Holidays is committed to sustainable tourism. We are continuously improving our performance in co-operation with our members and other partners.
Today the EarthCheck certified companies within Icelandic Farm Holidays are:
Hótel Hellnar in Snæfellsnes (certified)
Icelandic Farm Holidays Administration office (certified)
During summer 2008 and 2009, we put a special emphasis on evaluating environmental and security standards amongst our members, as part of our routine quality audit. The results of this work will be used to help our members improve their performance in these areas.
Other EarthCheck Certification in Iceland are:
Elding Whale Watching Reykjavík
Snæfellsnes Peninsula (community)
