One of the biggest events of the year in the Icelandic countryside is the sheep round-up - "réttir", which takes place in September all over the country. After running free in nature all summer, people on horses head out to find the sheep which are then gathered to a fold where they‘re sorted out by farms to which they belong.
Icelandic Farm Holidays is an association/chain of nearly 150 Icelandic farmers offering accommodation and various activities to travellers in their homes, Guesthouses, Country hotels and self catering cottages.Among the activities are: horse back riding, day tours and longer tours, fishing, hiking, golf etc...
